NAWRA is governed according to its constitution which sets out its aims and objectives and details how it operates. Recently, the NAWRA committee agreed that the constitution needs to be amended and simplified.

Please read the current constitution and a draft revised constitution.

What are the main proposed changes?

  • simplify the text and reduce it from 5 pages to 3 pages
  • change period of election of all committee members to 3 years (unless deselected for good reason) and allow members to stand for re-election
  • specify no maximum terms for chair, vice chair and treasurer (subject to the 3 year election periods and potential for deselection by the committee)
  • clarify the ‘English regions’
  • add a second Scottish representative
  • simplify rules for meetings and special meetings

What happens next?
Members will be asked to vote on whether they will accept the proposed changes. The poll opens on 17 March 2025 and closes on 15 April 2025.  There will be one vote per member organisation.
