The Social Security Advisory Committee are reviewing decision-making and mandatory reconsideration in the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) and HM Revenue & Customs (HMRC). The review is part of the committee’s independent work programme and will focus on mandatory reconsideration before appeal.
As part of NAWRA’s aims to challenge, influence and improve welfare rights policy and legislation, we undertook some research last year on mandatory reconsideration. This fed into a blog on the NAWRA website as well as an in-depth article in Adviser magazine in edition 169 (May/June 2015). You can read these here.
In light of substantial issues noted from last year’s research into mandatory reconsideration, NAWRA aims to submit a formal response to this timely review. Time is short so in order to make this as effective and current as possible we’d very much appreciate you completing this brief survey.
The link to this survey is here.
The final deadline for this survey is Monday 7th March at 12 noon but please respond as soon as you are able. Organisational responses are very welcome but individual adviser responses and experiences are preferred. Please feel free to send any additional evidence direct to me: eri@nawra.org.uk
Many thanks for your support.
